Share the love

Anita, Gillian and Sheila went to Boyn Grove Community Allotment for the weekly watering session. The weather had been kind to us, and provided some much-needed rain a couple of days previously, but we decided to give the plants another big drink anyway. We also gave the brassicas, beans, beetroot and strawberries a good hoe to keep the weeds at bay. While we worked the conversation turned to restaurants, food and the chemistry of cooking, and boy did that make us all hungry! After making sure that the water butts were all full, we all headed home for dinner!

This task supported

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
