11 Goodgym runners moved soil for Interact
Another clear fresh evening at the University and we set of on the run to Interact to make the earth move for them. we actually moved pallets and sand first, but then a huge pile of soil from the car park area out of the way under the hedge.
We were soon to work on arrival moving the pallets from the front of the house as it was on the way to the shed to get the tools and the wheel barrows. After some discussion between Lewis and Ken we decided the sand was too heavy to lift so we thought we should empty some sand into the wheelbarrows and then try to lift the sand bag. Then Joel Had the brilliant idea to take some sand out of the bag and put it into the wheel barrows so we could move the bag, so we did that instead. In the end we had to fill a few other containers too to make it light enough to move but we managed thanks to a big team effort.
The rest of the team had already begun to shift the soil and we all joined in to take the mountain down to a mole hill. and then moved that too. loads of enthusiastic digging and we had moved all of the soil from in front of the fence to under the hedge so that there was more room to park outside the cottage.
We then ran back to base through the high street. The next time we do this the Christmas lights will be up. Good job we wear red an white all year round, so are already spreading cheer throughout Chelmsford!
Speaking of which the Farleigh's hospice Santa run is on the 3rd December! I have offered our assistance to set up and break down so I will add these to the website shortly. you can sign up to one or both of these good deeds which are always appreciated by the team at Farleighs. it is a short and fun task (although early) so suitable for newbies and beginners to running!
