Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
A very local task for local people last night saw 12 directionally sceptical runners make the short jaunt to help the Wilton Estate team. "But Kevin, this isn't the way to Wilton Estate" I hear you cry! Well, that's because we weren't off to Wilton Estate but were in fact off to empty some planters just around the corner on Mare Street!
*Seriously though, you're absolutely right to question my directions as they are generally appalling. *
The Wilton Estate Team have been donated some planters by Hackney Council, planters which needed emptying of rubbish (read fag buts, lots of fag butts, tiny pens from the betting shop, curry sauce from MacDonalds and lots of general rubbish) and 'viable' plants, which in turn needed to be transported to Cordwainers Garden about half a mile down the road. A perfect Good Gym task.
Can anyone identify a 'viable' plant?
Without hesitation, GG Hackney smashed the job at hand, much to the abundant gratitude of Debbie. The plants that we saved will be repurposed and in some cases sold at the plant fare taking place at Cordwainers this Saturday morning.
We'll be back next week to remove all the earth from the planters so that the council can move them so look forward to a getting-your-hands-dirty vigorous digging task, my favourite!
Thanks to those that made it and also to our mission runners, Antonia and Gemma, who helped out a pretty amazing, by all accounts, 90-something year old Hackney resident with a bit of gardening.
See you all next week.

If you're reading this and I missed you off the register please send an email to the office and I'll add you on. I remember someone turned up just as we were leaving and I had already handed back the pen. Sorry about that.
