Monday 1st July
Report written by Derby runner
Gwyn and Tracey cycled along to Derbyshire Cricket Foundation to enjoy puzzles, tea and games with their Monday Mates. Our first job was to help set up the room before brewing our first cup of (weak) tea.
As it was not only the first Monday of July, but the first day of the month, the quiz was based on firsts; the first man on the moon, the first country to win the world cup and the first phrase spoken over a telephone.
We then had a first-rate game of seated cricket, where everyone had a turn batting, and Alex bowled whilst the rest of us fielded; there were some first class catches.
Finally, we ended with some live music led by one of our volunteers, and our most junior group member had her first taste of percussion, as she joined in with drumsticks.
Come along and join us at the next session; the first Monday in August (the fifth).
