Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On a lovely Saturday morning 8 GoodGymers met in Camden to run 5km and help the local City Farm!
It was Camden GoodGym's first time volunteering at the Kentish Town City Farm and wow what a mucky and piggy experience! We ran the 1.5 miles to Kentish City Farm through the cold but in the light, a refreshing change and something that will become normal in the weeks and months ahead.
Once we arrived at our destination we met John Langan whose in charge of looking after the animals welfare and breeding, he showed us around the farm; it's a beautiful long twisty space that fits between railway tracks and houses. Amazingly the sheep's barn was built under a railway bridge - bet they know the train timetable baaaaackward - sorry had to be done...
Stuck in the muck
John showed us our pile of muck which needed to be shovelled, carried with wheelbarrow's and spread around the beautiful vegetable gardens. We got stuck in and saw the steam coming off the muck - corrrrrr!
Vicki our resident nurse got very stuck in with spreading the muck with her hands and then tools amongst the vegetable plants - nice work Vicki - no fear!
After finishing the entire task in record City Farm time we cleaned up and then admired the animals - those pigs looked very relaxed! We said our good byes to John and the animals before jogging back to Somers Town.
Thanks for coming everyone, great task and fun times with an amazing group of people!
Come along to the group run on Wednesday we are heading to Southbank Rooftop Garden to lay turf - task of the year!
