Tonight we welcomed Tousif to Goodgym for the first time, but not his first time volunteering at a food bank, as he had volunteered at Sparkhill Foodbank recently with work. As a fellow runner from Handsworth and friend from group runs, I was pleased he could join us tonight after my recent Goodgym push on social media. Extra cheers have to go his way as he was the only one of us who ran to the mission.

We also welcomed Tony to Goodgym, who was an easy sell on my GG drive as he happens to be my dad as well! Surely one of them counts as bringing a friend to the mission?

Our new recruits got to know the group quickly as we all got straight into the work ahead of us.

Well it was a good job we had some experience in the group of the task, as there was another huge amount of donations as the generosity continues in the lead up to Christmas. Morwenna had her first taste of Weigh/Sort/Date as Annie, George and Liam returned for a second time, proving that the task is fun enough to return to.

We all felt a great sense of triumph and achievement as we worked efficiently as a group to get further than any of the previous two weeks, dating all of the sorted and weighed donations and even managing to haul the trays into the back area where they are given out. We left at the end of the two hour shift knowing that the volunteers tomorrow will have hardly any preparations to do before opening the Food Bank and getting on with their vital work.
