Tonight we split into two task groups, one went to Plasnewydd Community Centre whilst the others went to plog the streets of Cardiff. After our usual warm up and a few games of fish and chips we welcomed everyone and our newest runner Erika, hope that we see you back again!

9 runners took a nice long route around St. Davids hall, behind the high street and more, until finally arriving at the gardens. Met by the lovely Martin, everyone was given an overview of the gardens and how it helps the community to come together to grow vegetables. The group was introduced to the container, used to store all the tools of the trade and in desperate need of a tidy up. but before getting to that it was time to scythe up the marquees and tidy them up too.

The next group split to become two;

  • plogger joggers
  • walker pickers

6 ploggers hit the streets and ran through the city, around the Principality Stadium towards the river. Thanked by the Swans and Ducks they filled their bags and made the banks clear again, continuing the plog on to a park they tidied the wild flower beds until all bags were full and needed to be put for collection. But it wasn't time to stop just yet, everyone continued through Grangetown streets clearing here and there, encouraged by some really eager kids (Goodgymers of the future!) until the group spotted our old friend - Grangetown Hyb. It was calling and so it was time for a quick clean up of the surrounding areas and carpark before a photo and the run home. The 3 walkers took to the streets, clearing as they went on their merry way, also taking to the stadium but on the other side to the plogger joggers. Bags galore collected and a much cleaner Cardiff left in the wake of the Goodgym.
