Andrew and Susan took on Ipswich GoodGym's very first mission.

The two of us signed up a few weeks ago and got the email just a day before the task to confirm the details! A pleasant surprise!

We met to knock on Mrs C's door together at 10:30 after running from home; 2.1 miles for Andrew and 2.9 for me. We were pleasantly greeted and shown to the garden. Mrs C is no longer as mobile as she used to be, but still had a very impressive garden with lots of flowers, trees, patio and a pond.

Our task was to help prepare the garden for some building work she has planned. Jobs included emptying water from containers and moving scrap palets to clear the area.

Tech-savy Mrs C had ordered some lavender seedlings online and so we potted 24 of them, watered and popped in the greenhouse. We ended the task with some weeding and sweeping, the hour and a half went very fast!

It was very rewarding to help Mrs C because it was clear she cared for her garden very much but was unable to work on it as she used to. To help Mrs C enjoy sitting out on these warm spring days (better late than never!), we moved her rocking chair to nearer the back door.

We hope to help Mrs C and many others again in the future, making Ipswich GoodGym missions a regular event.

If you are part of GoodGym and want to do a mission, please do become approved (check the website for how) and look out for the tasks!

Thanks for reading!

Susan
