After a foggy start to the morning, we were happy when it turned into a lovely bright day, just right to start off our group task. Eight goodgymers met outside of our usual location of Sport Wales, ready to help out at the wonderful Cwtch Together for a Valentine Cwtch.

We walked and jogged in our groups a total distance of 5km there and back, but with the usual lovely break in the middle to get ourselves ready to help out with some volunteering. This after all is what we are all about, keeping fit by doing good.

As we arrived to the wonderful Cwtch Together, we were met by Sarah who looks after the project. Our job tonight was to clear up the back space that we had found, the hope is to turn it into a growing space that they can enjoy and use to teach the young people about nature.

Loads had already been done in our previous visits and by Sarah and her family in between, now we were tasked with trying to get as much of the vines and old leaves cleared. Bag after bag after bag came and went, some may even say that we were 'raking it in'.

As we slowed down and got a bit chatty, Martin seemed to get the 'power of rake-i' as he was transformed into RAKE MAN - keeping trains running on time since 2023!

The time was soon gone, and we had cleared nine bags, moved some pallets and got us that little bit closer to the end goal. We will return in March for more helping, our next visit will involve moving some large ‘spare’ fences out of the way so that the walkway is as clear as it can be.

Once again, the group seemed to enter a conversation about fruit – our go to. This time all about sweet grapes, do you have a favourite?? Next time – what’s your favourite Melon?

You're all wonderful people, join us next week as we return to help out at St Dyfrig and St Samson, Grangetown. Sign Up Here
