The gang assembled at the station just before 6.30pm with everyone just jumping straight into the task. James and Anit were filling up watering cans whilst Julia and Linda took care of picking out litter and trimming down the ivy that got a bit wild over the last few years. Simon from the council joined us a little bit later as his bus/tube was delayed and we walked him through the history of the project, the planters, gave him a glamourous tour of the men's toilet and how we fill the watering cans:)
The planters are looking fantastic but the last of summer bedding bound to disappear soon as the weather is getting colder (hopefully!). I've updated on my application to the council for some funding to get the plants etc so we can spruce them up and get ready for winter.
Once we were done, we went for a brisk walk around the neighbourhood, involving some dark bits of the sports grounds but thankfully everyone had their head torches on and I brought the main light to illuminate the path:)
Overall a nice little end to Monday - a bit of community gardening, a chat and some exercise - GoodGym is great!
P.S. Once Linda uploads the photo, the title will make sense - something we saw on our walk!:)
This is a resident and station led project to create a place that is lovely for locals to walk through with planters full of flowers and everygreens.
