Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
14 runners ran 4.3k, moved a baby grand piano, shifted 45 barrows of compost and 2 tons of soil. And still had energy for sprints on the return journey.
We helped Anthony in the Arch Gallery with some heavy lifting to warm ourselves up then ran together to Spitalfields City Farm. We then split into two groups - a report from each is below:
On Monday evening GG ran through the streets of Tower Hamlets to Spitalfields City Farm. A heap of manure was shovelled into waiting wheelbarrows which were speedily transported to vacant vegetable beds ready for a new crop next year. Team spirits were high despite the drizzle and we definitely broke the world record for number of barrows filled within a tight time frame. Excellent fun, as always.

It was a rainy Monday, I was tired, and I was shifting "smelly compost" in the dark. All the odds were against me enjoying it, particularly the steam and smell wafting out from the 7 tonne pile of, well, essentially poo. But running with my headphones in, by myself, in a gym, or round the block is far far more boring than what I get to do with Good Gym. Four of us shifted about 2 tonnes of the smelly compost in about 20 minutes, uncovering 4 manholes.

For the journey back, each runner set their own pace so the pack stretched into line. On command, the front few runners would turn, sprint to the back, then rejoin the group, continuing to run at their own pace. Every so often each runner found themselves at the front again, ready for another sprint.
Well done everyone for a great CV workout and some useful weightlifting at the Arch Gallery and at the Farm. More next week?
