Mrs C had recently tested positive for COVID 19, and was self isolating with her husband and young children.

The family had no food in the house, and were worried that they would have to go without an evening meal.

Although it was late, this was one task that couldn't wait.

Mrs C was unable to get cash, so had arranged to pay by card, over the 'phone. The only issue was that the nearest store offering this service was Tesco in Widnes...making a round trip of just under 16 miles on my bike, mostly in the dark, to an area that I was unfamiliar with.

I decided to make the most of my trip across the bridge, and made a slight detour to visit the Widnes Cenotaph and Memorial Garden, as part of the RBL challenge, Move to Remember.

That done, I quickly gathered the Essentials for Mrs C and her family, and headed off to make the delivery.

Just a few miles from her house, I had a mechanical malfunction and had to push my bike, uphill for the rest of the journey.

Mrs C was so grateful, as were her children. It is such an eye opener to see how families are struggling with every day tasks...and so rewarding to be able to help in some small way.

The journey home, thankfully, was mostly downhill, so there was some opportunity for freewheeling...
