The Lost Garden of Maidenhead
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Windsor and Maidenhead.
- Saturday, 21st of August 2021
Georgeta and Sheila responded to a request from Mrs J to come and help her clear her garden of weeds. She is clearly a keen and knowledgeable gardener who unfortunately is no longer able to keep it in the condition she would like, due to an eye problem. The brambles had completely taken over, and Mrs J was keen to free her precious rose bushes. We started tackling the brambles, and it didn't take long to free the rose bushes, but we also uncovered some Acanthus, Hypericum, jasmine, hydrangea and a plum tree. After a welcome cup of tea and a cheeky chocolate biscuit we cleared up, having produced a huge pile of green waste, but also a much tidier garden for a grateful Mrs J. Our only regret is that we didn't bring any containers to harvest the blackberries!
