Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
A tale by Ankit Sharan
On a clear winter evening free from the usual rains and clouds, a group of 4 runners set out to do well and stay fit in Ealing! We ran a quick 3km in total to the shelter home to paint a room and provide that sparkle in these festive times. Having done this before most of us were now pros at painting and especially picking up brushes and packing ourselves into a tiny space!
So we ran up the hill in a comfortable pace and reached the shelter home to a smiling Sandra who gave us a warm welcome and offered us water. It was then time to see the room and get going while our energy levels were at its peak. The paint was poured, the brush was soaked and we got going at ease with the paint strokes.
One of the residents seemed very intrigued by our do good and stay fit mantra and was all enthusiastic about learning what we do and how he could get involved. Emily wasted no time in making sure he got the right information and hey ho we got ourselves a new team member possibly!
We then made sure the paint work was done properly and cleaned the brushes, took some pics with different poses and ran back to do some exercises in the open. We did Ankit’s flapjack moves (because he tends to associate exercising with snacking technique!) and Emily came up with a new one leg balancing act. We did some good stretches, our favourite lunges and Lisa encouraged us to do more exercises and set the record for the fastest x20 flapjacks…ohh jumping jacks!
It was a fantastic evening with lovely people and we all did well to not let the cold stop us from doing good and going for a fantastic run. Sign up to the next one here!!
