19 people ran 6.5k to SIFA Fireside to do some cleaning
On a freeeeezing cold night it was great to have another good attendance! I even wore my extra thermal running tights, so it must have been cold! We also had a photographer from the Birmingham Mail meet us at 1000 Trades for some pictures of the group and a quick chat with myself, so we are certainly ‘doing the rounds’ with the media. That’s the Guardian, BBC Midlands Today, ITV Central and now the Birmingham Mail ticked off!
Out into the cold
Aidan kindly did the back-marking duties, so we were on our way to SIFA. We took a slightly different route than usual to avoid the German market (that’s next week!!) and got there in good time. Everyone was very happy we had an indoor task tonight. Once welcomed by Geoff, it was on with the cleaning. Showers, toilets, chairs, doors all needed to be cleaned. Once done it was back into the ‘freezer’ for the run back.
Speed bootcamp
Just after leaving SIFA we stopped at a well-lit car park, suggested by Garry, to do a very quick and intense bootcamp. We didn’t want to be standing around long, so it was straight into high knees running, followed by squat jumps and tuck jumps. Everyone worked well, Aaron showing great power with the tuck jumps, Dionne getting a good deep squat and Andrew and Fiaz were getting those knees nice and high during the high knees. Once that was done it was quickly over to the wall for a one-minute wall squat! The legs were now like lead, but not wanting to stop we headed straight back to 1000 Trades. It’s always tougher on the way back as not only have the group done the fitness session the route is predominantly uphill! Once back it was a quick stretch off and back into the warmth!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us for our ‘Christmas run’ sign up here. Remember to bring your mince pies, Christmas hats, Santa outfits, bells etc. After the run we will be going to the German market for our GG Brum Xmas party, so it’s not to be missed!
