Gill made her way to FoodCycle again this week, looking forward to finding out what ingredients would have been collected from the supermarket surplus. Once again, put in charge of dessert, she quickly decided on a rustle up to use up a couple of loaves of bread, a bowl of eggs, Somme milk and a surfeit of apples. Meanwhile the rest of the FoodCycle Team got on with preparing the starter and main course.

And what better way to end a meal on chilly summer's evening than with a lemon infused bread and butter pudding with some poached apple cubes scattered between the layers. It was a bit of an experiment, but it went down well, and the proof of it being quite tasty was not in the pudding but in the fact that there was no pudding left for anyone to take home.
