Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
20 people ran 6k, lifting some sacks of garden waste, painted a studio space, and shifted an elderly ladies sofa
What a year for GG Camden. We've had 52 runs, helped 45 organisations, shifted exactly 6 tonnes of woodchip, dug enough soil to fill Hampstead Lido, painted an area roughly the size of a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and weeded an area of plants roughly the size of Trafalgar Square- blimey!
We had another 3 tasks this week.
One group ran to Clean Break to help paint a couple of studio's in their main space. They did a sterling job- quickly giving the studio the first coat of white paint.
The other group ran to London Nomad community space at Rochester Square. Run by a group of diverse creatives they are attempting to rejuvenate a derelict plant nursery and theatrical prop warehouse in Camden Town. The goal is to turn it into a sustainable community hub- engaging in positive community interaction; growing food, skill sharing/workshops and social events.
They need some help shifting some big sacks of dirt and rubble that they had collected round the site. They were pretty heavy and were getting in the way- but we made light work of it. Putting them all by the exit so they can easily dispose of them.
The final group, (Peter and Axel) were sent on a mission up to Belsize Park to help local elderly resident move her sofa. It had frustratingly been blocking the radiator and needed twisting about. It sounded like a pretty small job, but the lady was incapable of doing it and didn't know who to turn to for help with a task like this. Its fantastic that we are available to help with missions like this.
We all congregated for a run home- some taking a slightly longer route along the canal while others headed straight back to the Community Centre. Nice work- see you in 2015 yo!
