This Saturday morning Rebecca and Louise battle through wet and windy weather to help out Meadow Orchard Community Garden.
Meadow Orchard is a NHS supported wellbeing and wildlife garden, open to all. It boasts over sixty types of trees, a buzzing bee hive and some of the only ant hills in London.
Part of the space used to be a vegetable and herb garden however, due to vandalism of their poly tunnel the previous winter, the garden currently has no where to plant crops. So our Good Gymmers were on hand to rectify that.
Travelling in the rain it looked like the mission would be a wash out. Yet as luck would have it, the sun made a sudden and welcome appearance as the pair arrived on site.
Due to the rain the wooden frame was too wet to recover the poly tunnel so instead the team got to work digging up brambles and invasive bind weeds. The troublesome roots were put to one side ready for a bonfire.
Another task was clearing built up soil to prevent it rotting the wooden frame. After two hours of digging our Good Gymmers had time to take in the full acre of the garden before heading on their way.
