Today we ran between 3 and 4 km and litter picked in Wandle Park. We concentrated mainly on the areas round the bandstand, skateboard park and children’s playground. Despite the threatening clouds and a few heavy showers today the park was busy with runners, cyclists and people heading home from work. Given how busy the park was we were surprised (pleasantly) to only collect 2-3 bags of rubbish. A lovely gentleman stopped us to say congratulations on our good work and that he wishes everybody was as helpful – warm fuzzy glows all round!

Obviously no GoodGym group run is complete without a fitness session so today started with a timed 800m with the instruction being to try to maintain a fast but consistent pace with enough energy left to smile at the finish line! Just to make sure they had worked hard enough some waking lunges, Y-squats and tricep dips were added in for fun and the session was finished off with some balance beam work.

We also had two new members today Julie and Dasha - so a big welcome to them and hope to see you in your red t-shirt very soon. Dasha spotted us last week when we ran past the station, was curious about our t-shirts and Googled us.

Next week we will be joined by Lydia who is training to be the Bournemouth GoodGym Trainer and she will be heading to the Salvation Army in Booth Road for some weeding and garden tidying.

The GoodGym Parkrun tour will also be heading to Lloyd Park in Croydon on Saturday the 24th of September. It’s posted up under Races so sign up and come along in your red t-shirts and meet other GoodGymers from different boroughs
