11 was the number of awesome GoodGymers who came out last night to help keep our adopted section of canal path in order for the Canal & River Trust last night.
We’d like to welcome new member Brendan who only started GoodGym on Monday and has already been to the 37 different areas, give him a cheer!
Jokes aside we did welcome new member (to Ealing) Ben, who started his journey at GoodGym Liverpool but now we’re delighted to have him down south with us instead!
It was a small and hardy group last night, but after a warm up and chat about our favourite cocktails (dreaming of sunnier times) we were ready to brace Brendan and get to the canal to make a difference.
Taking in the famous west walk en route, we climbed up to Hanger Lane before crossing under the notorious junction and swooping down towards the water. It was immediately obvious why we were there and we split into groups collecting cans, glass and rubbish separately so they can all be recycled.

”Ermmm” - GoodGym Runner, Jenni
We did a quick 15 minute blitz and in that time we collected 3 full bags of cans, 2 of glass bottles and 1 of pure trash. We could have stayed there for hours, there’s such a litter problem on this section but we’re happy to have made a small dent in making it better.
So back we went, this time Brendan was a fierce head wind making this part of the run great resistance training (always a silver lining!). And as some hadn’t experienced it yet, we finished up with a quick sally squats song. Feel the burn!
See you all next time, not you Brendan you’ve done enough for the January Challenge already.

So about that January Challenge, weren’t currently doing pretty awesome, we’ve got 40 good deeds under our belt and have already run nearly 600km as a group! Check out the rankings here. We’re trying to beat our numbers from last year and everyone who takes part makes a huge difference!
⬇️⬇️⬇️ This Saturday we have a whole day of good happening in Ealing, take part in any or all by clicking on the links below ⬇️⬇️⬇️
Canals and rivers are a world away from every day. They’re free, open spaces we can all enjoy - and it’s our job at the Trust to keep them that way.
