Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Nothing spooky but definitely a spectacular Halloween with a record turn out of 18 runners coming to lend a hand at St Mellitus Church! Along with our wonderful regualrs we had 1 cute cat, 1 wiked witch, 1 bold bat and an unusual unicorn (that may have been me...) as well as 5 runners coming back for their second GoodGym deed.
Pretty Awesome stuff!
We arrived at the church after a quick run of dodging heckling teenagers (think they loved the outfits) and a few trick or treaters to meet lovely vicar Stu who had lots of great jobs lined up for us to do. There was brick scrubbing, hedge trimming, litter picking, ivy removal and EXTREME dusting all on offer.
The gruesome twosome Sam and Cat quite liked the look of the amazingly long feather dusters and went for the option of tackling the windows and lights inside the church. We also had a team of dirty scrubbers inside with Adam, Ronan, Hannah, Shan and Steph working on freshening up the walls inside where the old radiators once were.
Meanwhile outside we had another petrifying pair with Michael and Simon working together removing the Ivy and finally the rest of the creepy crew went to town on the overgrown hedges. Ben, Leandro, James, Phill, Miranda and Abbi all hacked away while Jenni and better late than never Tim picked up the litter as it was revealed from the overgrowth.
After around 45 minutes of hard graft it was hard to tear some of you away from the jobs you were engrossed in and we worked a little but longer in favour of skipping the fitness session and heading straight to the pub for some well deserved cake and beer!
It was lovely to see so many of you in the pub afterwards and after a few impromptu games of hoopla using my unicorn horn and Abbi's witches hat with glow bands for hoops Shan earned himself 20 extra squats on the next session!
Massive thank you to Stu for having us and for laying on chocolates and drinks and a huge thank you as always to all the runners!
Hopefully to see you all again next time!
