Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Fiona Lewis
Weekend warriors Debs and Fi hot-footed it to Mr K’s house after a berry lovely morning in Bedminster’s legendary maze ‘o edible fruit. Debs had completed a park run earlier in the day, and Fi had consumed a ring donut before leaving that first task, so both were feeling a little worse for wear; fortunately, this afternoon’s task was a welcome spot of light weeding and general tidying-up of Mr K’s driveway and surrounding paths.
Mr K’s daughter greeted the GoodGymming pair and after a quick hello and tour of the back garden (which is home to a pair of slow worms - yay!!!), they set to work with a trowel and a hoe to to remove all of the unwelcome bits of grass, dandelion and unidentified weeds that were encroaching onto the driveway and paths used by Mr K and his family.
It soon became clear that the hoe was the way to go, and Debs did a great job of slicing away at the weeds bordering the concrete all around the front garden.
Fi spent a bit of time checking the gravelly borders for weeds, which included the obligatory “d’ya think this one is a weed?” moment, because you can never be too careful.
While they worked, Mr K’s daughter very kindly offered some drinks so Fi enjoyed a great cuppa and Debs had her water bottle topped up some of the fresh stuff.
After around an hour of weed-pullin’ and hoe-downin’, the pair were done and made efforts to tidy all of the uprooted weeds into bags before the wind blew ‘em all over the place.
Mr K’s daughter was delighted with the tidying and after a quick chat, Debs and Fi headed off to enjoy the rest of their Saturdays.
