The afternoon shift was volunteered by Tracy and Sarah, both keeping each other company at the Church back door. It was at times an emotional shift as people being called for vaccination were from the vulnerable category and some were clearly anxious, on talking with them we found out that some had not left the house at all since March. Having to wait in a waiting room with others was stressful for them. We did our best to be sensitive to their needs and were repaid with many words of thanks. There were some special moments this evening that made you feel proud to be a volunteer and realise that sometimes however small a part you feel you may play, that in some small way you have created a positive experience for someone receiving their vaccination.

A report would not be complete without mentioning biscuits.... Zoe walked over and said "I have some posh biscuits, would you like me to get them?" ... a silly question i thought... a short while later she returned with a ripped box of half eaten McVities Victoria biscuits.... well, these were not the M&S biscuits we were expecting and thus a new word was born... sadly I feel I cannot share this word in a report - but it was an edit of the word "biscuit" which describes a biscuit of lesser quality. The effect of the sub-standard biscuits can be seen in the photo.

As the evening went on and darkness fell Tracy had the job of jumping up and down to activate the light sensor. We had magic rain that fell yet we didnt seem to get wet and we tried to outstep each other to keep warm.

Another great day with approx 300 vaccinations in total!
