After some of us ran the Park Run in Princes Park, five intrepid Good Gymers, Pauline, Yan, Sam, Effie and Matthew met Liz, Ingrid and her colleagues from The Friends of Princes Park to help them clean out the inside of an old shipping container. They had obtained the container to help store tools and items for The Park Run. Liz was so grateful that we turned up as we were the only ones who did. We basically got stuck into the task, which involved brushing, scrubbing old rusty metalwork and generally cleaning out the container so that it can be safely used.

As with most of the tasks we go on, people power makes the task so much easier. Had it only been Liz and her colleagues it would have most likely taken them quite a few hours to clean the container out, so it was great that with our help we managed to do the job in hand in just over half an hour. Liz then provided us with really healthy food and drink including some delicious peanut butter cookies and mint tea. It was a lovely way to end the task and now we have made the connection there are going to be all sorts of possibilities to help out to make Princes Park and even more beautiful place to go.
