Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Six of Brent's GoodGym crew ran down the High Road to help Willesden Town Team's Abraham tame a weed and junk infested corner of the neighbourhood outside the old Police Station, breaking records for the number of bags of rubbish filled, before heading off to Gladstone Park for a short but sweet workout in the outdoor gym.
First to arrive at the Queensbury was Gillian, ready for her second run with the Brent Brigade, closely followed by Andrea, our other second-timer - welcome back ladies! The clouds and cool temperature didn't stop Chris from braving it in shorts and a t-shirt, and with Laura and Clare, the good deed doing set was complete. Clare, Andrea, Chris and Laura led the way to the Police Station dodging the pavement crowds, while Claire and Gillian back-marked.
Our friend Abraham was there to meet and greet with an array of bright blue bin bags, gloves and Pinchy litter pinchers, so we got gloved up in our red gloves and made like lobsters, pinching litter left right and centre and weeding like troopers -
We knew WEED really see the difference!
Laura was first to spot a pair of discarded trainers amongst the treasure trove of trash, but top marks went to Clare for bravely obliterating an enormous thistle - Claire T considered the challenge, but decided
"THISTLE hurt too much" - even with gloves on.
An amazing 11 bags of weeds and rubbish later, we were on our way again, to Gladstone Park for a short arms and legs session at the outdoor gym and a jog out round the hilliest part of the Parkrun route, before heading back to base. As we always say, we were GLADstone we didn't just stay at home on a Monday night after all! Thanks for another great night making Brent a better place to be!
