Three’s a charm. This is the third successful GoodSam call I have had during lockdown (initially I missed a lot of alerts due to an issue with the app...)
It’s actually the 4th, but the 3rd lady I spoke to didn’t want to chat so I didn’t log that as a ‘good deed’ I’m not in the business of cheating for the numbers!!
Today I spoke to Mr P who was isolated due to having COVID (although now cleared) he had been moved to a hospital away from his hometown and wasn’t having a great time as he had pneumonia. It was very insightful to listen to his experiences of the illness.
We had a long chat. We talked about his family, how he has found lockdown and how he is missing his regular routines of the gym and fitness.
We both agreed the pandemic has turned a lot of people’s lives upside down- he certainly said this was true for him.
It was good to chat to Mr P. Good to practice my listening skills on this one. I checked he had a support network he could contact if needed, he had family over the road and friends he could chat to- he was just fed up of lack of ‘normal routine’ plus a few personal issues.
I also talked to him about some support lines and websites that might be useful- he said a lot of them he did already have the contacts for, but was greatful. (Mind, Samaritans)
I think this was a bit of my work brain spilling into volunteering as I always like to know a persons ‘safety plan’ if they ever were in need.
I finished with asking Mr P what his plan was for the day- he is looking after himself and doing his best to get better.
Today’s retro mobile throwback for the picture is the Nokia 8310. I had fully forgotten about this phone! Remember how small it was compared to the 3310!!
