🐦🐦🐦 Three Pigeons Post number 2 : Three in a bed

No ménage-a-trois , just 3 GoodGymers planting over 230 plants donated by Homebase , Richmond into our newly adopted 🐦🐦🐦 Three Pigeons flower bed.

An unexpected offer of herbs and bedding plants from Homebase in Richmond required a hastily arranged community mission to get everything into the ground as quickly as possible. Kiara, Anita and GoodGym newbie Harry did an incredible job planting swathes of herbs, lavender, sweet william, pansies and violas, adding a bit of extra colour and ground cover.

The task was also an opportunity to discover some of the potential problems that we face as we develop the planting scheme in conjunction with Richmond Council’s Parks department : boggy soil at the riverside end, very shallow soil at the top and no soil at all in one corner . The bed is essentially a huge, sloping saucer of soil.

Lots of interest from passers by, from children fascinated with the worms to local residents pleased to see us continuing the work of the Richmond Society.

Big ‘thank yous’ go to James (for letting us use his outside tap to get water) and to Homebase for their generous donation, particularly manager Daryl and Jake from the garden centre.
