Tip top topiary in Tooting!
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Sunday, 22nd of July 2018
We braved the heat to run 7k to help Ms V. by clearing her garden of weeds and brambles so that she enjoy sitting outside and hang up her washing again.
We were pretty tight on timing on the outbound run. There was no option but to go for a personal best which we achieved and made it right on time.
While we got stuck into getting the job done Ms. V surprised us with an endless supply of tools to aid with the weeding and hedge trimming. Goodness knows where she got them all from! A ladder, sheers, a rake and a classic Panther hand lawn mower (in production from 1932 to 1950). We were particularly proud of the work we did to cut back the fern tree - topiary worthy of the Chelsea Flower Show.
In total we packed up 5 bags of garden waste. Never keen to leave a job half done we also cleared up the weeds in the front garden. Kudos to Ms. V for providing delicious mango juice and cake to keep us going!
No surprises there were no personal bests on the run home!
