*Tonight we ran around 5km to keep the wcs sparkling and clean at Croydon Arena in South Norwood *

It was a lovely evening – clear skies and not too cold – as we headed off to South Norwood to help out at Croydon Arena. A flat route which was appreciated by all – for those that love their hills though next week will be a little more “undulating”! For those runners who could remember the Arena from school and college days were very impressed by the work that has taken place since they visited last. So for this week’s task we headed into the public toilets to give them a clean – it was noted that the men’s were much bigger than the ladies which was felt to be a little unfair! The runners in the men’s toilet did have a debate about the correct way to hang toilet paper and it seems I’ve been doing it wrong for years!

Since we were at the track it would have been rude not to use it so after a quick warm-up the runners headed off round the track. The idea was to try practice pacing by running two separate laps in similar times. One of our new runners Liz managed to run hers within 2 seconds of each other – very impressive. Our other new runner was Victoria so welcome to you both and hope to see you again.

As our run was longer than normal and we had a track session we headed back to Croydon by tram and enjoyed some jelly beans kindly brought by Dom.

As I mentioned there’s going to be a publicity campaign in Croydon in January to get more runners for the Coach runs and Missions so please point friends and family in our direction if they are interested. I’m also happy to arrange local DBS checks outside the normal Tuesday sessions.

GoodGym has also organised a special run on Saturday 21st of January in London which they are hoping to be the biggest run so far – have a look at this link to find out more and sign up if you’re interested.

Next week we should be heading off to Waddon Youth Centre to help get their hedges and ivy back under control. You can sign up here

Don’t forget there are two Starter runs in January at the weekend so please sign up and feel free to bring family or friends along. They are particularly suitable for those who want to see what GoodGym is all about or who may be worried about the running bit

Sunday 22nd of January and Saturday 28th of January.

Have a great week and hope to see you all next Tuesday.
