Report written by Christine
A passer-by muttered ' More like winter than spring'. It was cold !!
Christine, heavily disguised under beanie and mask, met up with Pat and official photographer, John, near the railway station and soon the lovely, enthusiastic Christina of Poole BID arrived with a carload full of compost and plants. The bare planter was quickly cultivated, topped up with compost and filled with Heucheras and Penstemons and the previously Goodgym planted planter was weeded and tidied.
The group then walked down the High Street to the Quay and weeded, composted and planted up with more Heucheras and Penstemons, two more very sad and weedy planters. The plants should soon mature and make a very pretty pink display in the summer. The adjacent restaurant owner was delighted with our efforts and invited us to get water from the bar to water the new planting.
Hopefully the planters will be appreciated and not vandalized. Two beer cans and an empty vodka bottle were retrieved and binned.
A pleasant morning with hopefully long term future results! It was encouraging to be in the Poole centre and see so many shop owners busy working hard to refurbish and tidy their shops in preparation for opening next Monday.
