Report written by Redbridge runner
Thankfully the rain has finished by the time we all made it to the station (though James managed to get caught in it on running to the station!). We first did a little clear out of litter from the planters but we were amazed how well all planters are doing - full of greenery and a fresh flash of colour by the flowers! Due to the rains we've had in the last week we only needed to top up the planters under the bridge - a quick job!
We then read the instructions of flowerbombs and put them in a bag of water to soak them and then made our way litter picking. It was a mild evening with lots of trick-or-treaters out and about including a fox or two! We were very amazed how little litter was around comparing to usual - something spooky is happening! Though we did find quite a few of sweets' wrappers so those trick-or-treaters been a bit naughty!
We've dropped the flowerbombs all around on our walk, choosing spaces that usually have litter or weeds so hopefully the seeds will settle in and we'll see some wildflowers there next year! Julia did manage to get a lot of seeds blown into her face as well due to a questionable technique...
We finished the evening by James jumping on the bus to make a quick return home with Linda and Julia slowly walking up the road picking the wrappers and disposing of the last of the seedbombs!
A nice evening out with the GG crew - great way to start a Monday!
This is a resident and station led project to create a place that is lovely for locals to walk through with planters full of flowers and everygreens.
