SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
With more than a little chill in the air, three GoodGymmers met up at Doddington & Rollo community garden to lend a hand. It was Roisin's very first GoodGym session - well done for making it out despite the cold, and welcome to the group Roisin!
We got stuck in straight away with our first job, which was to clean the inside of the poly tunnel. Thankfully we were provided with some hot water, although working out how to turn on the hose was our first challenge! Finally cracking we made our way into the tunnel, which was thankfully and surprisingly pretty toasty! Half an hour later the plants were happy in their sparkling new home, so we moved on to ten minutes of weeding. It took us a few minutes (and asking some advice!) to work out which were plants and to make sure we weren't puling up somebody's prize petunias, but after a little bit hard of hard graft our section was looking pretty good.
So waving goodbye to Donna and Brian, the volunteers who run the previously disused carpark roof that has been transformed into a thriving community garden, we jogged over to the park to do a brief fitness session. We kicked off with a much needed warm up, keeping our legs moving and our heart rates up, and then moved onto alternating sprints with conditioning before finishing off with some technique exercises.
Great work this morning Roisin and Sinead!
