Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
The latest GoodGym run was one of the best ever. With the clocks going back at the weekend it was the first light evening run of the year, and the balmy weather made it feel like the middle of summer.
We met at Roll for the Soul at 6.30 and after a quick introduction headed off to the task. We started at a slow pace while we warmed up, with some dynamic stretches thrown in around the harbourside.
This week’s task was to help clear an area of waste ground to help prepare it to be made into an outdoor space specifically for older people. This project is being developed by two great people, Ursula and Thomas, who are doing something amazing for their community.
To clear the area we had to pick up quite a bit of rubbish, pick up rocks and bricks scattered over the site and move all the leaves that covered the site into two large piles on either side. The whole group worked really hard, getting a massive amount done in the 45 minutes. It was fantastic to see the difference we made.
It was still light for the run home, and we picked up the pace through the harbour and back to Roll for the Soul. Great work all round!
This project links nicely with the other part of GoodGym, pairing up runners with isolated older people. If you are interested in this part of GoodGym let us know.
