This week 9 GG-ers ran around in a couple of loops around Tottenham to get across the road to help the Friends of Tottenham Green turn the mud and pick the litter.

We were joined by GG newbies Sally and Gemma - Give them a cheer!

We started with a quick catch up inside Tottenham Green Pools before moving outside for a quick warm up. This was all about waking the glutes up, moving the joints and getting the body ready for the running and the digging.

Dave then ran one way while the rest of us ran another way, with Sarahwho did her 200th good deed tonight!– our trusty back-marker.

We all stuck together doing an easy 1.2km before meeting Laura at the tools hut before walking over to the playground bit to turn the soil. This is actually a task we did a year and a half ago when I came to Haringey to shadow Varon pre-Barnet start day, so it felt like a special activity.

We split into teams of litter pickers and mud turners and blitzed the area in traditional GG fashion.

There was a sudden overwhelming aroma that nobody could quite pinpoint. Was it sewage? Was it fox poo? We'll never know...

We decided not to spend too much time worrying about it and spent 5 minutes playing on the apparatus instead – doing burpees and climbing and whatnot – before taking the tools back to the hut with Laura. We finished with a sprint finish back to base before stretching and chatting and generally celebrating our collective awesomeness.

Sarah brought Haringey Hobnobs. I'm enjoying that these are becoming a thing and I feel slightly guilty that everywhere I go to help people be more healthy I seem to be encouraging biscuits and doughnut consumption. But I'm a sucker for alliteration and everybody loves a biscuit, so here's hoping someone continues the tradition next week =p
