Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

K&S Set Decoration Services arrived at Ms K's house to prepare it for the latest GoodGym infomercial. Little did they know that they would be the ones providing the comedy content. The main job was to change Ms K's chunky old TV for a sleeker model as the rest of the set had already been dressed for filming.

The budget for this production was non-existent, so like any bad TV move-y the lighting was poor, the result was pieced together with gaffer tape and nothing went to plan.

Does It Come Off?

The first step was to take the existing, 15 year old TV off its wall bracket whose manual was long gone. The mount didn't pull out, so K&S peered into the darkness behind the scenes to try and suss it out. Everyone had ideas, even Ms K. K&S tried to unbolt it, lift it, lever it and slide it, all with no success. After some head scratching, confusion and laughter, K tried unbolting again and the TV was freed!

As the mount didn't pull out, everything underneath - a cabinet, DVD player and Sky box - needed to be moved to give access. Cables were unplugged and equipment was relocated. K&S would work out how to restore the cable spaghetti later...

Does It Go On?

With one TV finally removed, K&S had to mount the new one with K figuring out how to attach the mounting bracket to the TV. Ms K's trusty torch was set on the floor to light the dim scene and the wall mount was lined up. Surely the hard part was already done. Wrong again, amigo.

Trying to get the bolts back in place by feel only was a fun challenge. K ended up squeezed in the corner, contorting her arms before S figured out that the TV could slide across on its rails to make more space. One of the duo then became the eyes, guiding the others' fingers to thread the bolts into place. After some misses, all of the bolts hit their target. The TV was up and more importantly, stayed in place.

Does It Work?

Cables were reconnected and finally, it was the moment of truth. Would the new TV work? It was needed to show a film of happy GoodGymers in the infomercial.

The Sky box said no. No signal, that was. K&S tried the usual troubleshooting step of restarting the box, but no dice. S traced the satellite leads back to the wall where the cables popped out, leaving the connectors still attached to the wall socket. 🤬

Does It Work? - Take 2

"Do you want some black tape?" - Ms K

"Some gaffer tape could work" - S

With the satellite cables gaffer taped on to the connectors, it was take 2. The Sky box powered on and Ms K was now able to watch her favourite movie channels. Success at last.
