NEWS As ever the most significant thing going on in Waltham Forest this week is the GGWF Group Run but there is a rival this week and indeed the second biggest thing going on is tomorrow's social! Yes folks the legendary Good Gym Monthly Social is coming to Waltham Forest and it will be happening in our very own run base of Mirth, Marvel and Maud. Do try and pop down for refreshments, it would be simply delightful to have you there, what?
Other stuff The Big Half, this weekend in London, should be a great event. Our own Frances and Ercole are giving up their time to volunteer at this event. If you are running it let me know.
An so to tonights plogging Ruth reminded us that International Women's Day is just around the corner, so we decided to name a favourite female icon when we did the headcount. I think this put us all on the spot a bit, including me, and while I'm happy with my choice of Marie Curie it was a bit predictable and I kind of wish I had gone for Sonic Youth's, Kim Gordon. I think Ruari took first prize with Amelia Earhart, or possible Ramon and Fergus who both chose their mum, which reminds me that it's mother's day later this month.
Anyhoo, Int. W. D. aside, tonight's run would be well described as a decent run at a solid pace. A good two miles out to The Lee Valley Riding School where we gathered a lot-a-litter and an even tougher 2 miles back. Tougher being the fact that we were going downhill on the way out and uphill on the way back.
We all held together in a pretty tight group, and the pace seemed to pick up to a pretty decent lick on the way home. I hope it wasn't because I got the timing slightly wrong and we ran a few minutes late. Either way, it was pretty decent work all round.
Well done folks, give yourselves a massive pat on the back and hopefully see you at the social.
Hasta Manana
