Every now and then you get a sneaky little mission that takes a little bit longer than you anticipate. So it proved tonight, as Beth and I came together for some furniture moving fun.

Our mission recipient this evening was the lovely Ms I, who’d previously had some GoodGym help in moving some furniture. She was so happy with the job they did that she called back for a little more help from her GoodGym friends! We're always happy to help 😄

On paper, our task was to move a wardrobe and to get down a sofa that was lying upright against a wall. However, on arrival, we could tell that it wouldn’t be quite so simple, as the room was absolutely chockablock with furniture and miscellanea that needed to be moved before we could even start. We can always work it out though 😀

Once we'd cleared a path for the wardrobe to move (which included moving a large, swivelling cuddler seat that wanted to twist more than it wanted to move laterally, and lifting a few boxes of files that had belonged to Me I’s partner down from the wardrobe), moving the wardrobe and the sofa was easy (just a lot of twisting as we shuffled things across the floor). However, the question then became “How do we fit everything back into the room again and still leave the sofa usable?" The answer? You can't 😂 So back up went the sofa against the wall, allowing us to bring in most of the removed items.

Around this time, a family friend arrived and helped us to empty the files from their boxes into a storage cupboard that's easier for Ms I to access. It seems that Ms I’s partner had had files on everything! I was particularly amused to see that one file was labelled simply as “jokes", mostly because I have a file on my phone called “puns" and so he felt like a kindred spirit. As we were putting the files away, Ms I told us the story of how they’d met and their first date in a Wetherspoons (apparently it took a long time for them to have a second date!)

Having moved as much furniture as possible (the sofa is probably the only furniture item in the photo that’s in its original position!) and having safely stowed away the files, we made our goodbyes to Ms I and headed off for the weekend :)
