14 Merry Goodgymers Run to Charles Smith House to tidy litter from the garden

We met deeper in the cafe at Leisure World as Naomi was enjoying a pre-Goodgym Coffee. Well done to Tav and Chris who brought their documents to become mission verified. And Well done to Naomi, Ian and Tav, who between them brought new Goodgymers Fay, Allen, Bev and James to earn their red shoelaces.

It was also great to welcome back Geneva and Ciara who we hadn't seen yet this year.

We explained the task, which thankfully on such a cold night was quite a short task that was quite far away. We made our way through castle park, and along Queen Street and mustered at the roundabout near Colchester Station.

We made our way under the underpass for the long slog along Mersea road. My legs were a bit tired from yesterday's impromtu speed session, so the slight inclines on Mersea Road were really noticeable, but luckily we all kept together well and got to Charles Smith House right on time.

We made our way around to the bin store to collect our litter pickers and bin bags, and encouraged everyone to spread out to find the litter and dead leaves.

A couple of the residents came out to tell us about their garden, for which they've won prizes regularly, and we were even given a gift of some carrots and some apples - hence the funny photos at the end!

We made our way back to Leisure World, and James, Tav and Allen took on the challenge of delivering another 200 posters for CoHoc on the way back. This ensured we all arrived back at the roundabout at approximately the same time.

After posing for a few more photos, the runners were tasked with a new drill to increase their toe off, and perfect their running form. Most people noticed there was more action in the foot because of this drill, and almost everyone sped up because of it.

Next week, we'll be returning to Colchester Food Bank, and you can Sign Up here. We'll also have our social after at the New Inn Hall Pub.
