It seems a lot of our GoodGym Lewisham regulars were otherwise occupied enjoying the incredible Bank Holiday sunshine, so it was a small but perfectly formed group of runners who met at Glass Mill this evening to run up the hill to the lovely Luxmore Gardens. Kudos to everyone who had put the extra runs in over such a hot weekend, and in particular Stephen and Olivia, who conquered the Lee Valley Half Marathon yesterday - well done both of you - give them a cheer!
Given the hot weather we've been having, it was perfect timing to help out with some weeding and all important watering this evening at Luxmore Gardens. Clare did a great job helping the rest of us with weed identification and was particularly chuffed to find a dockleaf (to deal with my nettle sting - thanks Clare!), whilst Chloe extricated some flowers from a particularly rampant bit of bindweed with near-surgical precision. Meanwhile Dom showed us how they do it in GoodGym Southwark, with an extremely efficient two-can technique for maximum watering! We also had a very enthusiastic selection of neighbourhood dogs to keep us entertained whilst we worked.
Our contribution to this week's I am Team GB theme involved some bodyweight-based exercises performed in pairs, for extra support and motivation. These included planks with high-fives, sit-ups with high-tens and some elaborate russian twists. They seemed to go down well, so I'll definitely be back with some more pairing up ideas for our next fitness session!
Have a great rest of the week everyone!
