Report written by Richmond runner
"Hold on i'm running late!" This was the theme for this week's sun, sand and a six (ish) mile run
Last night some of Richmond's finest ventured further than many had gone before in order to glam up the playground at Barnes Primary School.
The journey was emotional with the group battling late trains, bike lanes and the hot weather to make it happen. Like a boomerang, Victoria even biked/ran in a circle ending up back where she started!
A head count was taken by Mark on arrival after realising an error in his route planning whereby the home straight took us past a seriously tempting pub. All present and correct, no punishment exercises this week, except the awesome mileage we put in.
We were greeted by a lovely and helpful pupil who took charge and got us kitted out to give the Keystage 1 playground a tidy up. With lots of work to do, this time round it was sweeping the sand back into the sandpits and clearing some weeds.
It was hard graft but what with the sun, sand and water fountain it was near enough a Brighton GG run on a Monday evening in Barnes.
After a lot of sweeping the playground was looking much tidier and even got top marks from the head teacher.
Energised by good deeds and the sea air, the return leg felt that wee bit shorter. Everyone did a great job with the longer run so a huge well done!!
A big well done to Hannah who joined us for her second run for GoodGym unfazed by the intensity or distance.
A huge shout to Jane who has near single handedly invited most politicians in Richmond to come and share some Wholefoods cake with us next week as we celebrate GG Richmond on our 1st birthday.
A mission is taking place this weekend in Richmond and there are 2 spaces left - Help Mr B in the garden so that he can use it again. Saturday, 15 Jul 2017 11:00 AM. Also Volunteer at Wandsworth biggest Sport and Physical Activity Festival Wandsworth mission. Saturday, 15 Jul 2017 12:00 PM. Visit www.goodgym,org to sign up
I would like to thank Barnes Primary for inviting us to your wonderful school, see you again soon. Happy running
