Up and down in Somers Town
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.
- Wednesday, 23rd of May 2018
Whilst the Camden GroupRun assembled at Somers Town Living Centre, the two of us met for a Mission just a couple of streets away.
Ernie, not far off the back of the Hackney Half-Marathon chose to stretch it off with six trips up and down the stairs of a flatblock, as we removed some unwanted furniture.
The five items were all ready to go in an otherwise empty room so it was very straightforward. We left behind the newspaper lining from the chest of drawers, in case our host wanted to catch-up on what the latest news was 70 years ago.
The items were left all in a neat row on the street ready for the council to collect as scheduled in the morning.
Before we left we had a few words with our extremely warm and ebullient host. He’d been in the area for 40 years, but had grown-up in Covent Garden, back in the days when it sold fruit, veg and flowers delivered on a horse and cart.
For now he has a whole room of extra space to use in his nice sunny flat.

Nice job, that is such nice furniture - glad I wasn't there as I would have wanted to take it home!
