With her husband no longer able to tend to the garden, Mrs R's shed had been overgrown with Ivy and Honeysuckle.

Thankfully, a pair of keen GoodGym runners gladly answered the call for help. Alex, having just finished (and won!) the Bristol Pizza Run, and Ady, currently training for Race to the Stones, met up and ran over to Mrs R's house.

After being shown round to the shed, Alex and Ady got started with a combination of shears, secateurs and straight-up pulling strength to get these vines off of the shed. Vines upon vines of Ivy and Honeysuckle were pulled out in no time, and after less than an hour our runners had resorted to stomping down the ivy to make more space in the two compost bags we started with while Mrs R fetched even more bags for us!

As Ady and Alex worked away, they spoke with Mrs R and her husband about how long the couple had lived here, as well as chatting between themselves about current running plans and hobbies. A particular highlight during the task was finding a miniature house on the shed roof which, amazingly, stayed upright despite all of the vines that had previously been on top of it!

With only the vines too thick for our tools remaining, and four compost bags filled with Ivy and Honeysuckle, it was time to wrap up. Ady and Alex said goodbye to the lovely couple and went on their way. The plan certainly came together for this A Team!
