St Barnabas Counciling Service were celebrating 50years of their Services. Unfortunately over the years their client numbers have increased so much so they have a 12week waiting list. They have a core group of Councillors who work tirelessly at their office in Derby St. today they were raising funds for the organisation but their Volunteers were given free entry into the event which was open to the public at £5 per person. Our job was to help with the setting up of gazebo’s primarily so Jenny & 1 tackled that! After 90 minutes we’d got a few up & wow did the heavens open & 15 minutes of HARD rain! Thankfully after we’d repaired any sodden patches, the event opened it was a glorious afternoon. Jax arrived & the three of us were on entrance duty taking entrance fees, selling raffle tickets & letting people know what the event had to offer. The brief was be as welcoming as possible being the front of house etc etc Well us Goodgymers are good at that. Jen was mostly in charge of that whilst I mastered the card payment machine 🙈 Jax then had charge of a beautiful dog, unfortunately only assisted dogs are allowed in & this owner had most of her family all really inside the grounds so we said we’d look after her whilst the owner attended the event. She did come back at the end of our hours shift we helped at other stalls, Jax & Jen helped out on the tombola stand & I took over in the tea & coffee stand. Phew we certainly earn our wages today 11-4 was a long day but very rewarding. The cake stall was amazing too. we had lots of interest about Goodgym so hoping for some new recruits ❤
