There is no better way to kick start your Saturday morning and take a break from the crazy world of today than with a jaunt up to Hilsea Lido to lend a hand!

Today, 5 GoodGymers met up at one of our old favorites and were quickly put to work. Rosie and myself headed to the roses planted last year hoping to encourage them to grow upwards along the fence with some string while Nick made the rounds of planters with tubs of water. Once those tasks were finished, we joined Jo & Lynn behind the lido - shoveling and sieving dirt to transport to another batch of roses!

We alternated between 2 people shoveling & sieving, 1 pushing the wheelbarrow filled with buckets, and 1 helping dump the sieved soil around the flowers, while the last person "supervised" (aka had some water or caught up on a missed breakfast while offering good laughs and chatter!)

Nick must have disturbed something yucky in the dirt pile, because about half way through we could smell something quite sewage-y and unpleasant! Regardless, we all had a great time and talked about what joy GoodGym brings to us and being around other people that care about their community etc :)

At the end we were treated to a cuppa and cookie to fuel us on our routes back home! Back September 5th if you want to sign up!
