Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Peter Van Tongeren
The chilly windy weather was not helping motivation, so attendance was bound to be a bit on the low side. Add to that gridlock in the local area (4k bus trip took 1h30 I heard...) and unforeseen circumstances and the result was a lone warrior ready to take on Wanstead... Or better said, ready to wander around collecting memories to share and look back on the year behind us. Not all tasks done let themselves be photographed well in the dark, nor are all of them within reach, but above is a collection of images and below a little glance down the year gone, in random order:
Wanstead Community Gardeners - too many tasks & adventures with Marian to even start mentioning them, lots of pictures reflecting her tireless work.
Forest Recycling Project - messy paint sorting, sorting bits, cleaning toys (too far away for pics tonight)
Nutter Lane alotment - many an hour spent weeding
Wanstead Community House - our base - fence painting, leave clearing, general gardening
'our room' - changing room that is our home at the back of WCH. Doesn't look like much, but it is ours for the Monday evenings!
The George - go-to place for birthday drinks and any other celebrations
Window cleaning at local charities (Barnardos & St Francis Hospice)
Litter clearing missions on the Green & surrounding areas supporting the locals organising it (symbolised by the fountain)
Some leaflet drops
Chi & his abs challenge plus Strava segment race (finally got the GG record!)
and ofcourse.... lots of running!
One more group run to go before the end of the year, who knows what memories 2019 will bring! Are you ready to find out?
