27 warriors ran 8k (including Dartmouth Park hill mountain) to help at Waterlow Park kitchen Garden

Last nights run was epic- we ran 8 hot hilly kilometres to Waterlow Park Kitchen Garden , a series of community growing plots in Waterlow Park, Highgate.

Rich Tea refuelling

The run was fairly challenging- mostly uphill on the way through Kentish Town and Tufnell Park- but we stuck to the challenge and were greeted by Catharine, the plot co-ordinator, and loads of refreshments (Rich Tea Biscuits are the perfect refuelling food for running up Dartmouth Hill).

Damn Flies

It was near perfect conditions.....for the hundreds of small midges who gorged on our tasty flesh as we worked in the gardens. We had a number of important tasks- chopping back unruly hedgerows, weeding the pathways, watering the beds and carrying some big sacks of compost.

How many Rachel's does it to weed a Pathway in 25mins?

We didn't have a great deal of time to do it- so set about the task quickly. It's amazing what a team of 27 people (including 4 Rachel's- a record surely) can do in 25mins! It's a shame we couldn't stay longer- its a beautiful place and the park is really lovely. Would highly recommend popping by if you're at a loose end!

Hare and Hounds

We split into two groups on the way home- with those who fancied a nice relaxed jog home downing tools first and heading for the exit. The rest of the team stayed an extra 5mins- before packing up and following suit. There aim was to try and pick the first group off before they arrived back at the centre. 2 runners absolutely flew- Axel and Will were absolutely flying down Kentish Town road in an effort to try and break 20mins for the 4.5k run home. We just watched and gawped- nice work Speed Demons!

We got back to the centre in good time- grabbed our bags and had a quick stretch out on the road before heading for some light refreshments in the Somers Town Coffee House. Lovely evening- nice one everyone.
