Gillian was stuck into the weeding when Jen and Brenda arrived with the code for the shed.

Once they had fig-ured out where the tap attachment for the hose pipe was hidden they set to work watering the vegetables and filling up the water butts. There was a marrow escape when the hose disconnected from the tap once.

Weed managed to do some weeding too and before we knew it we'd bean there an hour so called it a day.

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
