Clare, Meggie, Emily and Jenny met on a beautifully sunny evening at the thriving Maidenhead Community Allotment for some watering, filling water butts, weeding and litter picking.

Jenny summed up the evening afterwards, capturing the essence of what makes GoodGym more than just exercise and a task:

Lovely evening to go to the allotment...lovely group (as always). We talked about how much being together lifts our mood and makes it a good day. Very companionable chats, tips on outdoor swimming and comparing notes on returning to running via run/walk.

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
