Share the love

I love spending time in our local parks though the winter nights and overgrown hedgerows can make them feel unsafe . This is why todays task with Urban Green is so important for Kenton Park.

Task Owners Mike and Maddy shared how funding had been acquired to clear all the overgrowth improve visibility in the park and deter anti social behaviour.

I quickly got stuck in with the saw while Debbie and Lucy tackled overgrowth with the loppers.

Michael, having slept in again, arrived just in time to start moving the pile of branches and prickly bushes we’d created.

A role reversal gave Lucy the chance to take over the saw and with Maddy’s guidance quickly felled a small tree.

Mike called tea break, where we were spoiled with Ringtons Ginger biscuits before heading back out to finish the task.

Lucy and Mike spread grass seed while Debbie, Michael and I continued sawing and lopping.

Time flew by and soon it was time to tidy up. Check out the space we cleared in the photographs.

There is still time for you to get a good deed in this weekend as we head to Saltwell Park tomorrow morning for a Junior parkrun takeover.
