On a mild and grey winter's morning, four of Goodgym's finest runners met to moved mountains of soil and compost and ran 5km in the process.

On Saturday, Trainer James and Rebridge top man, Darmesh, slightly sweaty from running Wanstead Flats parkrun, met with Run Leader Peter and the first lady of Goodgym Redbridge Stefania to help with a heavy lifting task for Wanstead Community Gardeners.

Over the last three years we have done some many good deeds with this group and whenever they know they need some muscle they are quick to come a calling. This week's task was to fill sacks with mushroom compost and topsoil and then move them down on to George Green where they could be used on the flower beds.

With all four runners, working hard to fill the sacks soon two of the one tonne containers were empty and delivered to the smiling gardeners who were hard at work in the town tending to the beds. This is exactly the sort of task we love. It makes huge impact in the community and it really does make people's lives easier and better. Well done team!

The good news is we haven't quite finished, so why not join us on Monday night and help us finish the task. You can sign up on the left of this report!
